Lou Chow Coffeeshop, Sibu

There is a place in Sibu where I call it the Sin City.

Why, the whole row is either karaoke pubs or disco disco, or that massage centres with huge half nude woman posters plastered on the building itself.

These entertainment joints operate till the wee mornings.

And then there is this coffee shop wedged between these entertainment joints, it is called Lou Chow.

Lou Chow opens 24/7.

Maybe close for Chinese New Year.

One of the signature dishes there is the pan mee / pan mien (handmade noodles).

I have never been a pan mee fan.

I hate ikan bilis and cangkuk manis in my noodles.

For me, the combo just doesn't work for my palate.

But my family loves the pan mee there.

The char siew is a winner in the pan mee.

Probably, this is the most decent pan mee you can get in Sibu.

Wantan / Pien Nik at Lou Chow Coffee Shop, Sibu, Sarawak
Other than pan mee, the other signature dish is the KL style black and thick and gooey Hokkien Noodles.

Again, it is an acquired taste.

So I decided to stay safe and had my wantan (local Sibu meat dumplings).

Which was pretty good.

And, kolo mee!

:)

Probably the best kolo mee in Sibu.

The kolo mee / kampua stall is always very busy and do expect to wait quite a bit for your food.

The only downside of this coffee shop is the location, that's all.

Collateral damage. I am not a fan of these karaoke bars, pubs and such.

Sometimes if lady luck is on your side you might stumble upon people you know, with mainland Chinese mistress having their meals at this coffee shop.

Yikes!

Yes, it is true. I bumped into a friend's father with his mistress there. I felt so embarrassed that!

And there you go. That's my story about Sin City in Sibu.

Ok, pan mee and kolo mee. Noted. Was there last week, did not really want to eat as I had a heavy breakfast at home so I did not bother to look around. Just had a glass of kopi-o-peng.
