Nasi Lemak Party at The Brodies

Ooo...I had a very satisfying dinner at Auntie J's place last Sunday.

I've always had penchant for nasi lemak.

What's not to like, nasi lemak served with rendang ayam, Johorean style. Aiyo! so sinful ;)

Dinner didn't end there, my dear.

I was further fed with ice cream...paired with F1 on TV.

and also a glass of Baileys!

Oh, alcohol didn't stop there. At that point,I had blurred vision of Kimi Raikkonen already, looking hot even in his unruly hair! Though I've always fancied him with his spiky short hair.

To finish off, look below.

Tell me, how can I not squeal?

This is my fav!

All thanks to the Brodies for the lovely dinner :)

Chicken Cordon Bleu @ Secret Recipe

One Friday afternoon, it was pouring cats and dogs in Kuching. The rain was so bad, I need to find excuse to detour to theSpring. :P

I've always ordered the same ol' same ol'. So I decided not to be boring that day and opted for Chicken Cordon Bleu.

Deep fried chicken wrapped with ham and cheese.

It's so hard to capture these photos, with me swallowing down saliva every few seconds and hands shaking, waiting to pounce on it.

Makan!!!It's the only sure fire way to make me cheerful on a rainy day.

Not to mention I love coffee on a rainy day.

Sheer bliss.

Special Invitation from Uncle Joe

I've been invited by Uncle Joe, who serves spring roll @ Kwong Hup Cafe (Jln Keretapi) to sample his special popiah (spring roll).

Not every tom, dick and harry has the opportunity to.

So I count myself as a very loyal customer of Uncle Joe's. :P

And this is it. So good that the popiah has to explode before it detonates in my tastebuds.

At this juncture, i feel very disappointed not having a DSLR.

Else, I can show you the crab meat in my popiah with macro shots.

Utterly juicy, sweet, tantalizing.So seductive.

Hmm...the ultimate seduction of popiah. Never judge a popiah by its skin.

Tak De Pedas Punya Kari Daging

In my so many years of cooking, I find it the most challenging, to whip up curry.

Not just any sort of curry, but a mildly hot and spicy one.

My curry dishes are usually super hot ones, with generous addition of dried and fresh chillies, shallots and garlic.

So this is it. I fare quite alright, judging that my friend could still take the curry gravy.

Beef curry served with roti prata.

*Chuckles* I don't know if my friend sensed the funky taste of the roti prata. Coz I use olive oil to fry the roti prata.

;P

When Italian Meets Foochow

Living alone has its downside; is that it's such a hassle to cook rice. And single diner here presents to you, fusilli goes east to meet its Foochow counterpart.

Tadaa...

Beef stir-fried with greens, simmered in Foochow red wine. And cheers to the two gentlemen who were also in Choice Daily yesterday morning, thinking that I'm an underage and holding a bottle of red wine under my arm.

Even though I am a pure Hakka Mey, I grow up with the Foochows. Hence my Chinese cooking is also very towards Foochow style.

The Atelier

A class of its own, this is The Atelier, which unfortunately has closed down for good.

The lovely clash between ethnic touch and modern day inspirations made this place a very cozy place to have your meal.

The signature beef flat noodles, infused with an array of spices, a very distinguished taste on its own. A marriage between Vietnamese and Taiwanese beef noodles.

Red Velvet: chocolate cake served with a dollop of cream cheese

Apple Tarts!

Melt in the mouth pastry

And I am very sad that lovely place such as this has to close its doors for good.

I shall miss you, The Atelier.

Memories Cafe, BDC Kuching

One look at this place, yes indeed, it is full of memories.

However, the food is quite forgettable.

This is luncheon meat with rice. Hmm...paper thin slices of luncheon meat.

I've got no memories of this place already.

Food Presentation Gone Overboard

Would you try pyramid-shaped rice?

This is what you get at SCR Express, theSpring shopping mall, Kuching.

It's just way too weird.

To be honest, it looks like Madonna's ever so famous conical shaped bra by Jean-Paul Gaultier.

Not to mention, bland and dry.

And to go with the bizarre shaped rice, is a platter of steamed chicken breast.

Why stinge on the portion? The meat was sombre looking, definitely very sad. So were the pickled cucumbers. Meat was also tough and bland.

Plenty of room for improvement, hmm...

Diva is not at all impressed.
