Hot and Sexy Pineapple Tarts

When pineapple tarts get sinfully wicked.

The melt-in-the-mouth moments.

The buttery sensation.

The sweet and tangy outburst onto your palates.

They have to be devilish.

Come on over for a round of blasphemous pineapple tarts session

7 day koay teow challenge

I did something very stupid yesterday.

I accepted a challenge from a friend to eat koay teow consecutively for 7 days.

Today (21/7/2009) is the first day.

Even though only day 1, already wanna mampus. :P

I've lost my eating stamina.

Day two (22/7/2009)

I can't believe it! I've passed day 2 victoriously. :P

10 year old Single Malt

I am a social drinker.

And I only love whisky. On the rocks please.

My fav would definitely be single malt whisky. I have tried a few: Glenmorangie, Old Pulteney, Glenfiddich until I stumbled upon this rare gem:

Single malt from Islay. La Phroaig.

And if you say, blah... only 10 years old, what is there to shout about?

And I tell you, there certainly is something to shout about. I solemnly tell you, this can beat Glenfiddich's 18 year old anytime! Smokey and smooth, the taste is out of the world.

Look at the alcohol content. If you have a few glasses of this on the rocks, I promise you that I actually look as beautiful as Miss Malaysia in no time ;)

Shanghai Restaurant, Sibu

I have a sudden urge to go back to Sibu this weekend. I am homesick! Terribly.

Especially after a series of unfortunate events befall me some time last week.

This is a tribute post to my cozy hometown, Sibu.

The Sopranos family in Sibu love to frequent this place.

The panoramic view of Shanghai on the wall, specially flown in by the owner.

The Sopranos family, Tony Soprano at far right.

And we started off with greens. If you're no fan of this, skip to the next pic.

Stir-fried vermicelli, generous amount of bean sprouts, onions, slices of chicken and prawns.

Seaweed Shanghai style. Tangy, sweet, fishy, a medley of lovely and funky combination.

Mr Tony Soprano made sure that his daughter was well-fed before being sent off to Kuching.

Deep fried prawns coated in salted egg yolk. Daughter Soprano's fav dish.

Jelly fish in sesame + peanut oil, crunchy and superbly flavorful.

Let's take a closer look. Cucumber & jellyfish are perfect pairing. Just like Moet & Chandon with chilled strawberries.

Stewed lamb

Are you game for Sibu now? ;) Come and meet the Sopranos family in Sibu.

Of Sachet and Sticky Notes

I just discovered that the two sticky notes with my horrendous scribblings of nothing actually went missing from my whiteboard in my office.

Sweet.

So is a little empty silver sachet that i hung nearby.

Give me one good reason why would anyone want to remove those from my desk.

Fusili in Pomodoro Sauce

I can't seem to find a decent outlet in Kuching which serves fantastic Italian. Suggest to me one, if you happen to know.

In the meantime, I have to whip out on my own.

This is my take on Fusili cooked in Pomodoro sauce.

And if you wonder how I managed to coat every strand of the pasta with the sauce, feel free to leave a comment. I'll teach you. I do it the Italian way.

Auntie Lily's Cinnamon Rolls Recipe

There are some misconceptions about being a woman civil engineer.

It doesn't mean that we have to be totally macho and rough, and also unfeminine to boot. And I am here to defy all these.

Sibu Food Diva is a Civil Engineer and She Loves to Cook, Bake and Eat and Shop!

Here's my take on auntie Lily's Cinnamon Rolls Recipe.

Click here to view the recipe. Now, there's one good reason why you should try this out. It is very very similar to that of Cinnabon's!

But this is my take on the recipe:
  1. 125g of butter instead of 113g
  2. I use dough hooks to beat up the dough till elastic.
  3. Divide the long roll into 24 pieces (Divide the main dough into two, roll out, and place the filling, roll up, and cut each half into a dozen pieces, and you get 24 all together for a single recipe)
  4. Rest the rolls for 3 and 1/2 hours prior to baking in oven.
The end result: very soft, very fragrant, good in the tummy. Goes very well with a cuppa. Enjoy!

Somehow somewhere my baby sister saw this cinnamon roll in an unusual way, who once heard from me that cinnamon is able to ward off ants. While munching away the cinnamon rolls, one by one, she asked, "Che, save 1 piece aside and place it in our bathroom. There are so many ants in there!" :O Aiyo...Joan Che-Che was really lost for words at that moment.
