Green Road Laksa, Kuching

I am a laksa connoisseur. Okay, don't drop by No. 29, Channel Road, Sibu to tell my mom about it. She won't be very pleased.

Since El Cheapo is the in-thing right now (judging from the current economic situation), allow me to introduce to you value-for-money and great tasting laksa:

GREEN ROAD LAKSA: RM3

Count the prawns, baby!

I'm sorry you won't be able to count in the chicken too. I say, around7 pieces of thickly sliced chicken meat.

While I was clicking away with my camera this morning, a middle-aged man seated next table shouted to the laksa uncle, "Oei Tauke! This girl is advertising laksa on your behalf," followed by soft chuckles at the table. "Mai sng sng, ee eh chiu oo chaat hua eh." that man continued. (Translation: Don't play play, she got her hands tattooed.) Wow oh hello, I am Chinese, dear kopitiamers! I am being nice not to approach that man in Hokkien and asked him to treat me instead! :P

It's only a mehndi. Nothing serious :)

Tarot Cafe @ Jalan Keretapi, Kuching

Whether you are religiously orthodox or not, you have to put that mentality aside and step into this cozy cafe @ Jln Keretapi, just next to Bing! Coffee.

Afterall, you won't get jinxed for entering this cafe. :)

I was craving for anything ice, so I opted for this: Iced blended white milk tea. I must say it is marvelous! When I say certain beverage is good, then it has to be real good, as you know I am very fussy when it comes to drinks. Only Coke, and teh c peng or sky juice. I am not keen on those ice-blended drinks which are made from flavored powder.

What's not to love about this french toast? It's called honey butter on the menu. For a second, I thought I ordered the wrong stuff. Made from two thickly sliced bread, with peanut butter and honey, topped with generous squeeze of honey and a very big scoop of ice cream. Best part of all, the oil used for deep-frying the bread is fresh.

All came up to RM10.40. Cheap? very!

Celcom Broadband Syndrome

How do you know if you experience the above?

1. You experience extreme exhaustion from clicking the Connect Icon for at least 10 times, and yet nothing happen and still, you are not yet connected to the internet.

2. You get frustrated because your e-mail couldn't be sent as the line gone awry halfway through.

3. You have e-mailed to celcom careline, and you didn't get any response.

4. You called Blue Cube consultant and you get answer such as this: "Oh... it's because you didn't subscribe the RM98 package, if you subscribe to this one, your line no problem wan" But then, my area is not covered by 3.5G! only 3G, so even if I subscribed to RM98 package, I'm still surfing the internet with 3G at dearer price!

5. You feel like approaching Celcom CEO & MDs and plead, "Datuk, please do something about the broadband, have mercy on students like me who is very dependable on your broadband."

6. You are completely mortified because they perform maintenance from 18th of May till 8th of June, and when 18th of June comes, you still need to pay RM68 even though you hardly even utilize the broadband.

If you experience 3 or more of the situations above, welcome to the club.

I am very frustrated. Enough said. Teach me how to solve this problem.

Young Beef

I was at Cold Storage yesterday, wanting to buy a small block of beef for my curry. And this is what I'd got in my basket:

YOUNG BEEF

Why is it called young beef? Can somebody enlighten me?

Before anyone could enlighten me, I was on my way to burst into laughter. If meat from cow junior / baby cow / calf is called young beef, then what makes me?

YOUNG PORK!

;)

Cheers to all readers who were born in 1983 :)

Chong & Low Cafe, BDC Kuching

To get the best of the best handmade noodles, you just have to find your way here. Chong & Low Cafe, just a walking distance from Everise BDC and Stampark.

I ordered plain noodles (without meat) and the soup, aptly called "cheng".
Noodles was good, springy and firm, no borac acid smell or whatever funky chemical smell.

The soup consisted of wantan, thick pork slices (very generous, not the usual kopitiam paper thin ones), thick slices of fish, seaweed, beancurd stuffed with meat, oh! i lost count already :P Not to mention, the soup was flavorful on its own, without MSG.

Next we have this pretty auntie who whips up fantastic Sarawak Laksa. Since my bro was buying the breakfast, we opted for SPECIAL LAKSA. woohoo! :) which means, more prawns than the usual one.

Very very hot and spicy!

Selamat Hari Gawai

Selamat Hari Gawai to Sarawakians. Happy holidays! Gayu guru gerai nyamai.

All these pics were taken at theSpring shopping mall, Kuching. Btw, the girl in the pics is not me. :P
